چکیده
This paper reports the recent progress on the development of double-cantilever infrared (IR) detectors, including the fabrication, the post-process urvature control, and also the first-time demonstration of thermal detection using capacitive-based IR focal plane arrays (FPAs). In this work, implified double-cantilever IR FPAs based on bimaterial SiNx/Al and Al/SiNx cantilevers are fabricated using a surface micromachining module ith polyimide as the sacrificial material. Thermal-cycling experiments of both 200 nm-thick Ebeam Al and 200 nm-thick PECVD SiN films x eveal that the residual stresses in IR materials can be significantly modified by thermal annealing. Therefore, an engineering approach to flattening R FPAs is developed by using rapid thermal annealing (RTA). This article also demonstrates the thermal detection of cantilever IR FPAs using ommercialized weak capacitance readout IC. 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

متن کاملUltraviolet detectors based on annealed zinc oxide thin films: epitaxial growth and physical characterizations
In this report, ultraviolet (UV) detectors were fabricated based on zinc oxide thin films. The epitaxial growth of zinc oxide thin films was carried out on bare glass substrate with preferred orientation to (002) plane of wurtzite structure through radio frequency sputtering technique. The structural properties indicated a dominant peak at 2θ=34.28º which was matched with JCPDS reference card N...
متن کاملInfrared Detectors for the Future
In the paper, fundamental and technological issues associated with the development and exploitation of the most advanced infrared detector technologies are discussed. In this class of detectors both photon and thermal detectors are considered. Special attention is directed to HgCdTe ternary alloys on silicon, type-II superlattices, uncooled thermal bolometers, and novel uncooled micromechanical...
متن کاملControlling thermo-optic response in microresonators using bimaterial cantilevers.
We demonstrate a novel platform to control the thermo-optic sensitivity in nanophotonic devices by evanescent coupling of light with bimaterial cantilevers. The cantilever can be designed to provide a negative thermal feedback to passively compensate for the positive thermo-optic effect in the waveguide core. We demonstrate athermal operation over 14 deg in cantilever coupled Silicon ring reson...
متن کاملMicromachined Arch-type cantilever as high sensitivity uncooled infrared detector*
In this article, we discuss an uncooled infrared IR detector based on an “arch-type” design realized with advanced microelectromechanical systems technology. Bimaterial microcantilevers undergo bending as their temperature changes due to the absorption of infrared photons. The bending is proportional to dissimilar thermal expansion of the two different materials composing the cantilever. We sel...
